Whether you lived through the prime era of romantic comedies that was the early 2000s or if you missed it, fret not; you can still enjoy them today. If you aren’t sure where to start, try these three amazing early 2000s romantic comedies. (And what better time than February, the month of Valentine’s Day?)

1. Hitch (2005)

Hitch | IMDb

Hitch stars Will Smith as Alex “Hitch” Hitchens, a dating coach in New York City, helps men struggling with dating pull their acts together and find true love. One of his new clients is the very shy Albert (Kevin James), an accountant. Albert has a big swing: Allegra Cole (Amber Valletta), a beautiful heiress.

While helping Albert win over Allegra, Hitch meets and falls for Sara (Eva Mendes), a gossip columnist who has given up on the idea of true love. Of course, a someone whose life is all about love falling for a skeptic? Only hilariousness can ensue. And it does. Hitch is a feel-good and witty comedy. You really can’t go wrong.

2. My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)

My Big Fat Greek Wedding is utter perfection. Toula Portokalos (Nia Vardalos) meets and falls in love with the handsome and wonderful Ian Miller (John Corbett). There’s just one small problem: He’s not Greek, something her family considers absolutely essential. Toula isn’t giving up that easily, though, and is determined to get her family to embrace Ian.

3. Miss Congeniality (2000)

Miss Congeniality | IMDb

Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) is a tomboy detective who gets assigned to a case that requires her to go undercover as a contestant at the Miss United States beauty pageant. Of course, chaos breaks loose but in the best way. Miss Congeniality is completely hysterical.
